The 5th FIDE Women Grand Prix has finished

1108_maincl.jpgThe closing ceremony of the fifth stage of FIDE Women Grand Prix State took part in the State Drama Art Theater of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The officials, organizers, and also numerous of chess fans have come to congratulate 12 participants of the tournament.

S.Lambaa, Minister of Health of Mongolia, on behalf of people of Mongolia and Government expressed the hope that it will be the beginning of chess development in the country:  

  - This chess event is even more important in regard that we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Mongolian Chess Federation and 55th anniversary of its joining to FIDE. Our Government is paying special attention to chess development in our country. The foundation laying ceremony of Mongolian Chess Academy Palace is symbolic of our determination to become a chess world power.

Since we had no previous experience in holding major chess events, we certainly had shortcomings, but we did not lack spirit and enthusiasm.

S.Enkhtsag, President of Mongolian Chess Federation, thanked Presidential Council of FIDE and President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov for granting the rights to organize the first major international chess competition in the country. 

   - This memorable event will be inscribed in the history of chess in Mongolia forever. I would also like to express appreciation to all participants of this tournament, including players, officials, entourage, organizers and everyone else. 

Chairman of FIDE Verification Commission Lakhdar Mazouz on behalf of FIDE thanked the Organizing Committee of the tournament, general sponsors, Chess Federation of Mongolia and chessplayers; and congratulated the prize-winners:

   - I congratulate Hou Yifan who, in spite of her young age, fought from the very first round with determination and skill to get the first place in this very strong tournament. I wish her a bright future. My congratulations go at the same time to Antoneta Stefanova and Tatiana Kosintseva for their respective second and third place. 

All participants have received memorable prizes, and three winners have been awarded by Cups. Finally the State Academic Song&Dance Ensemble of Mongolia have pleased guests with their performance.
